Trials & Tribulations of a shop owner

What a week (2 days actually)! This week was the start of getting the shop to look like a shop. Started by unloading all the shelving units, computer and printer. So far so good. Put the computer system together and was getting frustrated because I couldn't connect to the wireless network @thebank. So I took a break to get lunch and buy a chair....(need a comfortable chair for computer fights don't ya know).

Bought a chair and a few other things I thought of while I was at it. When I got back to the shop I discovered the first of the yarn had arrived! Wasn't expecting this yarn for another week! It took all my self control not to open the boxes just yet....needed to conquer the computer first....
I was saddened and disappointed to discover there was now wireless card in the darn thing!
No problem...just stop and get a wireless adapter in the morning!

So I picked up a wireless adapter and 7 port USB hub then began to tackle the computer again. Did the adapter work? It might have worked if the hard drive hadn't failed! (not quite cause I didn't look closely enough at the requirements.....the one I bought didn't have drivers to work with windows 7!) With the hard drive cuput I was back to the store for a replacement computer. The good news...the system I bought is now on sale and got about $100 back which I put on the 3 yr protection plan I didn't get the first time round and still got $11 back!

When I returned the rest of the yarn had been delivered....Now very excited!
The computer is now up and running minus the wireless (returning the useless adapter for one that works with windows 7). 5 of the boxes have been opened and yarn entered into the computer.

Next week will be even more fun...More shelves to put together, yarn to put into inventory, tags to make and boxes to break down to discard.

Progress is Progress

As some of you have heard....the first of the yarns for the store should be delivered sometime during the last week in April. The next batch is expected during the first week in May.
The computer system has been purchased and the point of sale software/hardware is on the way. The lease will be signed this week and the shelving moved in soon after.

There is still alot to do and more presents itself every time I start sit to run through what has been done and what needs doing.

The grand opening dates have not been officially set as of yet. Have to find out how long it will take to get the credit/debit card services up and running. Must make it convenient for you to spend your money with me after all.

If anyone has any ideas for items that should be added in the future please feel free to pass them on to me. (I think I may have found a supplier for the mini scissors) I have already asked a friend of mine to make a hand soap and/or lotion for knitters. I will be carrying hand dye yarns from Serendipitous Ewe by this fall. Skacel and Brown Sheep products are on to be added list.

I will do my best to keep you all updated. Thank you all for your support!
